<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">At the Golem Army
Painting Workshop weekend you will learn the skills and techniques used by a professional studio to:</span><br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Save you time</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit;">Create cohesion and visual impact across an army</span></li>
<li>Approach painting larger groups of models with the right mind set</li>
</ul>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">...all of which will make your
army look awesome on the table top!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="CENTER" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<b><span style="font-family: inherit;">What do
I need to bring for the weekend?</span></b></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Miniatures: </b>Obviously you will need to bring something to paint! This could be an entire force or a few units that
you might like to focus on. These models should be built in advance
of the event so that we can get straight into the good stuff! It
would also be a great idea to bring along some of your existing paint jobs so
that we can assess what will be the best way to help you along.</span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Brushes:
</b>We find that most painters have
their preferred brush types, so bring something you feel comfortable using. For army painting we would suggest always using a good brush, but we personally like to save our best ones (like Series 7s) for characters.</span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<i><span style="font-family: inherit;">Brush suggestions: For really good yet cheap brushes, you can't go
wrong with Rosemary & Co. Series 33 brushes. A size 2 or 3 and a
size 0 or 1 will give you enough variety in size. I would also
suggest a large flat headed brush like the Citadel Large Flat
Drybrush for larger areas.</span></i></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Paints: </b>Paints will be
provided on the day. However if you have a specific colour scheme in
mind using a particular paint range, it would be a good idea to bring
these paints along with you.
</span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Notebook: </b>It would be a good
idea to bring something along to write down what you are being taught
so that you can reflect back upon it at a later date. A camera might be useful for the same reason</span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="CENTER" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<b><span style="font-family: inherit;">We will provide...</span></b></div>
<div align="CENTER" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Paints: </b>We have a large
selection of Citadel paints in the studio which you will be able to make use of.</span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><b>Lunch (both days): </b>We will
provide a selection of food and soft drinks. Tea and Coffee will also
be available throughout both days.</span></div>
<div align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">

The client asked for a "a dark glossy red and blue colour scheme", similar to this chappy from Mass Effect 2.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="infinity by Golem Painting Studio" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/wu-ming-mass-effect.jpg" /> </div>
It looked a lot like Optimus Prime when I came to blocking out the base coats.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="infinity by Golem Painting Studio" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/wu-ming-wip.jpg" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But when it was shaded down really came together for test piece. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="infinity by Golem Painting Studio" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/wu-ming-test-shot.jpg" /> </div>
<br />
Here's the SÙ-JIÀN Immediate Action Unit, skimpering through the bushy undergrowth. I really like the bots in this scheme.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="infinity by Golem Painting Studio" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/red-blue-infinity-2.jpg" /> </div>
<br />
Slightly fiddly model, considering it's metal, and reared up on one toe. No room for pinning legs. Luckily I have a secret glue formula that means this is rock solid.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="infinity by Golem Painting Studio" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/red-blue-infinity-3.jpg" /> </div>
Here's the whole lot. I like their glowy eyes.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="infinity by Golem Painting Studio" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/red-blue-infinity-1.jpg" /> </div>
And the whole force, defending some shelled out buildings. Pow pow.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="infinity by Golem Painting Studio" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/red-blue-infinity-terrain.jpg" /> </div>

<b><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Part 6 - Bull Centaurs</span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And we're back. After a short break (some would say too long) for the holidays, its time to return to blogmosphere.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I'm going to be lazy though and return with a rather picture heavy blog, featuring my Bull Centaur Renders.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihiHwsQHNmP5IApD-jjslVFAMayWGF8_Dq8I9lZYA41LmSAmHiE0nEOjlUgKwLe4ifmFoMr-AEDwnZzp9pkTAHeCXRjMuy5kKRCOBl_EF0prc3JX7cI547oAcv_yKHbzotygN2DYhlDf8H/s1600/100_3356.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihiHwsQHNmP5IApD-jjslVFAMayWGF8_Dq8I9lZYA41LmSAmHiE0nEOjlUgKwLe4ifmFoMr-AEDwnZzp9pkTAHeCXRjMuy5kKRCOBl_EF0prc3JX7cI547oAcv_yKHbzotygN2DYhlDf8H/s320/100_3356.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I'm a big fan of the Bull Centaurs. I find they have their uses either in small units to harry opponents chaff units, and lend support to the other big combat threats, or in big units as a real hammer unit. Their high Toughness, Wounds and good Armour Save also makes them a very resilient unit to both light arms and weaker troops. For only 40pts a model they are a real bargin.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Usually I run my units with Great Weapons - with only 2 attacks each, I want to make sure that when they hit, they kill, to give them the greatest chance of winning combat, and as they are so tough to kill, the Always Strike Last rule is less of a disadvantage.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">These last two Bull Centaurs have been used as my Taur'ruks in a good number of games (I now have new Taur'ruks painted - keep your eye on the blog to see them in future editions). The great weapon one is probably my favorite of the BC models, as its full of character, while the hand weapon and shield model is a conversion from a old Chaos Dwarf Lord - with only Sorcerer-Prophets as lord choices in the Tamurakhan book, I felt it fitting for this model to get an upgrade.</span><br />

<br />
I've recently completed a Wood Elf Army and thought it would offer the perfect opportunity to show some of the stages we go through to keep things quick, neat and looking great on the table!<br />
<br />
Here's a stage by stage look at how I approached a Glade Guard Archer for this army.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Stage 1: The model is assembled and flashed, and has sand glued to the base. It's then primed grey. <br /> Note that the cloak is kept separate.</td></tr>

No! We it wasn't us - the painters - it was an army of Picts.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Golem picts" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/foundry-picts-003.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
These Iron Age Celts were a commission of largely Foundry miniatures (with some minor conversion work). They lack full bases as the client himself will be mounting these in elements of eight for the Impetus games system. For the purposes of the photos they're stuck to the board with dobs of Blu-Tack.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Golem picts" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/foundry-picts-004.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>

<img alt="Golem picts" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/foundry-picts-002.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>
The richer Picts go into battle on horseback. These horses are great fun to paint - I like their little equine faces. Classic Foundry models. <br />

The Berserkers are covered in woad spirals to scare the enemy while the charge - all dangly - into battle.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
Wargaming is an open an varied beast with a huge range of topics, environments, scales, and settings and my personal favourites have always been small scale wargames depicting massive epic engagements, with a special fondness for fleet based games and the extra tactical dimension they add with limited manoeuvrability which forces forward thinking.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
From my early days of GZGs Full Thrust and Games Workshops Man'o'War fleet engagements have always captured my imagination and heart, which eventually led through the void of around 10 years without any major company making such a game to Spartan Games. Spartan now produces 3 such fleet based games, and a whole host of exceptional minis to go with them.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Destopian Wars is by far in my opinion the most enchanting of these games, set in a rich Victorian Sci-Fi setting it offers many weird and wonderful steam powered war machines and a whole batch of different painting techniques and styles to match.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The Russian fleet is an extra challenge in itself with white as its main colour, which I generally try to avoid when possible, especially when using a more realistic, non-cartoony painting style as it is all too easy to mess up.</div>

Some of us have become black hearted devotees of Chaos, whilst others seek to uphold the Emperor's divine light.<br />
<br />
Basically we've been getting lots of Chaos and Grey Knights commissions; hurrah!<br />
<br />
First up, have a look at Luke's Bloodletter commission:<br />
<br />
"I've never painted any Daemons before, being a staunch imperialist, and so I had to adjust my painting style. I lit my desk with a guttering candle of unclean tallow, set atop a polished skull...<br />
<br />
In all seriousness though, daemons do require quite a different approach, with all that bare flesh. I painted some sinew and muscle tone onto key areas to make them more three dimensional. I also spent a long time on the swords, as these are key focal point."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtCszY2jIZfITpTwhUWWtC5i6QYA0R0faORxIhoHdfL-CdkuqcJgsvGjv2BzyqOo1KITtqF29klJwzP4ZSFduvf2i-cxClplP95qd1RUL-KRU05pK4_IPU8IOASFxtXmt_6tbYpjbXLmk3/s1600/bls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtCszY2jIZfITpTwhUWWtC5i6QYA0R0faORxIhoHdfL-CdkuqcJgsvGjv2BzyqOo1KITtqF29klJwzP4ZSFduvf2i-cxClplP95qd1RUL-KRU05pK4_IPU8IOASFxtXmt_6tbYpjbXLmk3/s640/bls.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up are Mark's Grey Knights:<br />
<br />
"The client had some definite aesthetic ideas he was looking to incorporate into this force. The silver was to be of a much darker hue than is typically seen on GKs, and the helmets and tilt plates a striking split red and white scheme.<br />
<br />
I also used a alternating blue/white blend on the force weapons to give them real visual impact"<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6qqlRuPIyRGA6Vy12N7XDRxbKKgILagvClOEN-r2afjCWxRU9CiOmuQCcvr8GgIqgC7Whp0hF6GmkNe9alUd7D3wdrsLW8Zp6J7yh1iY1UElePIh7EtfIplYDVpBbeTvafLTnh0YbawTW/s1600/gks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="380" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6qqlRuPIyRGA6Vy12N7XDRxbKKgILagvClOEN-r2afjCWxRU9CiOmuQCcvr8GgIqgC7Whp0hF6GmkNe9alUd7D3wdrsLW8Zp6J7yh1iY1UElePIh7EtfIplYDVpBbeTvafLTnh0YbawTW/s640/gks.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Both armies were mounted up on custom resin bases featuring a plethora of skulls, so it seemed rude not to set them up in some dynamic action scenes!<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
Hello one and all, and happy New Year! I recently finished reading the 'Horus Heresy' book 'Deliverance Lost' and was quite surprised to find a rather large Raven Guard commission sitting next to my desk. I was very eager to get stuck in!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJSvwb5x2ZQ_nF_10bFpI7GFXx1YidfHAwfy4Yyb1bAcyFROiyPdXBCJqfsqmK67mYlofHGnW_tg16l1yXUOKHzPF4pAl2RR8T5n8OSN_T4zuhlSaElrcVt4uR8PZBuMMUzXXbQFMP3WJl/s1600/mee-modded.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJSvwb5x2ZQ_nF_10bFpI7GFXx1YidfHAwfy4Yyb1bAcyFROiyPdXBCJqfsqmK67mYlofHGnW_tg16l1yXUOKHzPF4pAl2RR8T5n8OSN_T4zuhlSaElrcVt4uR8PZBuMMUzXXbQFMP3WJl/s640/mee-modded.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I found this to be a very enjoyable commission as there was lots of different models to build/paint. These models were greatly enhanced by the 'Forge World' transfer sheet which was a joy to use. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I hope you enjoyed looking, more Raven Guard to follow!</div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">An invite to attend the event is an achievement in itself, with over 900 players competing in tournaments in the UK this past year!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Each tournament is assigned a quantity of rankings points based upon its size (both players and rounds) - with the maximum score being 100 - and you earn a set amount of points depending on how well you do. With your best four tournament scores being counted towards the rankings.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">This year you need over 367 out of a possible 400 to make it into the Masters - an average of a top 5 finish at four 60 player 2 day events (the minimum for an event to be worth 100 points).</span><br />

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I started playing Warhammer again at an event on the 16th of October 2011 - and coming into this year I made the decision to set the goal of achieving a place in this years Masters event - not an easy task, as a lot of very good players were going to miss out, and at that point I had very little experience of 8th edition!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">But I am very pleased to announce I just slipped in - finishing the year in 16th place! Which obviously I was very pleased about, even if it was a bit anxious waiting for the final placings to be announced. I'll report back on how I, and the Chaos Dwarfs, did early next year.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And finally, as this will be my last blog post, most likely until the new year, I thought we'd leave on a high, and show off my K'daai Destroyer. One of the biggest threats in the Chaos Dwarf army list, and probably one of the most talked about monsters in the Warhammer scene.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">With no official models I chose to use Krull from the Banelegions Range (click the images to enlarge)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Most of the red skin colouring was airbrushed on. Using the airbrush to create simple shades and highlights is a great way of both speeding up painting large monsters, and getting the smooth blends that large areas of flesh require.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">From there I used mainly a collection of glazes and washes - thin layers of translucent paint - to create a rich depth of colour. I shaded the skin with both purples and browns, and carried these colours over when shading other areas such as the gold and brown leather - keeping the shading consistent is a good way to tie the different areas of colour together and give the model an more realistic, unified look.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I added an extra layer of highlight to the K'daai's facial features - this is a trick we use often when painting models. Faces are always a focal point, and the area the viewers eye is naturally drawn to, so giving them an extra layer of highlight really makes the model pop!</span><br />

I'd like to share them.<br />

Here's a better view of the muddy swamp bases. I shaded the recesses
and pooled gloss in them to give them a puddly finish. The reeds are
made from a decorating brush.<br />

Flexing the fingers of his deactivated Power Fist, Commissar Gustav scowled at the enemy advance. Gustav had been reassigned from Imperial Commander Jordan's stable of Guard disciplinarians to an observational post with the Furnace Valley Brotherhood - and what he saw of the Squats' tactics would make for unpleasant reading.</i>
<i> </i><br />
<br />
<i>"Why the scowl Gustav?" asked Colt, one of the squad's veteran troopers. "Your brow isn't hairy enough to pull off that sour expression."</i>
<i> </i><br />
<br />
<i>"I'm troubled we're fighting Astartes Renegades so much these days. It's as though the entire galaxy is populated by Space Marines. And I'm troubled by today's choice of allies - Dark Eldar and Necrons."</i><br />
<i> </i>
<i> </i><br />
<i>"We're a pragmatic race Gustav, we do the job with whatever's at hand. Anyway, that's not what we called them in my day." Colt sighed. "To us they're Eldar Renegades and Chaos Androids."</i>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
********</div>
With the Golem Impressive Miniature Painting Syndicate in its third month we set aside an evening for a celebratory parade game. With uneven numbers we drew teams along the Golem/non-Golem lines. Matt Turpin (Blood Angels) and Si Jenkins (Shadow Scorpions) were on Team Collar - look at them with their proper jobs and fancy dress codes.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS Month 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-02.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Team Golem was Chris "Curis" Webb (Squats), Luke "Hand Cool" Jordan (Dark Eldar) and Mike "Turbodanger" Mee (Necrons). You can tell they're commission painters based on the hearty caffeinated drinks.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS Month 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-01.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
With uneven numbers team Golem slimmed their 750 lists to 500. We placed six objectives across the field and assigned them random points (1-3) which we decided to leave hidden until the end of the game for maximum excitement. As we've all been painting Fast Attack this month, we decided Fast Attack choices would be scoring as well as Troops.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-03.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-04.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
With Mike Mee in charge, Team Golem elected to set up and go second. The Marines drove a tanky spearhead forward.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-07.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
But instead of chewing up the Dark Eldar and Squat infantry immediately in front, the Baal picked on the Necron Wraiths on the right flank - to Luke's delight.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-05.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Simon looked on unimpressed, taking the game all very seriously.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-06.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Mike Mee's Wraiths weathered the storm and were ready to mete out some vengeful destruction.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-08.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
The Squat gunline blew up its plasma gunner trying to harm the Baal.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-09.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
But the Wraiths were unharmed and charged the Baal, blowing it up in a way that was meant to look smokey and fiery but just looks orange and fluffy.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-11.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Shadow Scorpions reserves arrived with outflank, and the Master Jeridian's personal Rhino proceeded to crush trees and add Friend of the Earth to his long list of enemies.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-10.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
The Blood Angels counter-counter-charged with their Assault Squad, wanting control of this central objective (blue barrels and green fuel can). But the Squats counter-counter-counter-charged with their Command Squad. And then the Death Company counter-counter-counter-counter-charged and it became a big ruck in the middle of the table. Ahhh, 40K.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-12.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Jeridian's Rhino had decided to join in, but unable to disembark and assault he felt very left out (you can see it in the corner in the above photo). Jeridian's Rhino was counter-Rhinoed by the Squat Berserkers and their plethora of special weapons. Melting, burning and shurikening Marines down, they dared the Command Squad to charge into them so they could take some overwatch fire with their arsenal.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-16.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Luke's Eldarites mercilessly gunned down Simon's lone Chaplain. This Chaplain has a long history of getting caught out while running around unaccompanied.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-17.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Meanwhile, Luke's racks were being slowly mangled by Captain Games Day Captain in the Forest of Colour.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" height="488" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-15.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
Mike Mee was failing Reserve rolls for his Necrons something chronic, and his Lord and Immortals in a Night Scythe had yet to appear. These Jonny-Come-Latelies attempted an eleventh hour push to battle Jeridian's Command Squad off the corpse-strewn barrel objective. A challenge was issued and the opposing commanders duelled atop the tree-crushing Rhino. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-18.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Sadly, the Necron Supreme Commander was killed and his Immortals lost the combat and were mercilessly chased down. The Night Scythe, in hover mode, was then taken out by a lone Death Company. Team Golem were looking thin on the ground with just Chris' Exo-Armour to cause objective problems.<br />
<br />
With few models left, Chris used his time to construct a Keytar (half keyboard, half guitar) to intimidate Simon. Unfortunately he got a bit mixed up with the name of this hybrid instrument and labelled it a Keyano (half keyboard, half piano). Simon adopted an ignore strategy.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-22.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
These Hearthguard wiped out the Angels Tactical Squad on the objective, meaning at the end of seven bloody turns (damn those random game lengths) there were no Fast Attacks and no Troops anywhere on the board, with the exception of a solitary fleeing Shadow Scorpion. No primary objectives for anyone.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-19.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-13.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-20.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Chris was massively proud of his paintjobs so that's why there are loads of photos of them.
So with nothing left alive to claim primary objectives it came down to secondary objectives. Team Golem had killed the Shadow Scorpions Chaplain (1), Captain Games Day Captain (1) and had got First Blood with the Baal Predator.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="GIMPS MOnth 3 parade game" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/golem-40k-21.jpg" width="650px" /></div>
<br />
Team Collar had killed Squat Warmaster Curiz (1), Luke's Dark Eldar Warmaster (1), Mike Mee's Necron Warmaster (1) and had also had Master Jeridian's Command Squad in the Golem deployment zone. Victory for Team Collar 4-3. Cue Captain Games Day Captain from Matt and Simon sighing at all the energy and idiocy he's been enduring while trying to play tactically.<br />
<br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4PVinmfNK6ryE5S1Q8etl6Bq_xtUgtkOSqiCDe4xl0-ZjOxm_lWTQWXquFi-fgY6uxPvCORf5jWd5g6eANZWve-fZnBoyuBGlPoVL6w7cslltbw-xhXQiw6BcR9eQRF4ZBW0xEdjJRJ56/s1600/Friday-Night-Lights--friday-night-lights-286207_1024_768.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4PVinmfNK6ryE5S1Q8etl6Bq_xtUgtkOSqiCDe4xl0-ZjOxm_lWTQWXquFi-fgY6uxPvCORf5jWd5g6eANZWve-fZnBoyuBGlPoVL6w7cslltbw-xhXQiw6BcR9eQRF4ZBW0xEdjJRJ56/s320/Friday-Night-Lights--friday-night-lights-286207_1024_768.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">There was a number of people very interested, who put their money where there mouth was - mainly for versions of the studio colour scheme, in the case of the humans, the silver an blue of the Trontek 29's. We had no less than seven Trontek teams to paint!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinZxwswFFA9XExXxi5SR_EnK2WgVwiEawV-lg3_T9DFD_2ZM7R1QWPu3irgHHtsijlw5ddIVVE9TId-yMztbhLvshQOARsSDu2MR79bcd0Acow48FalsYVbtQZJKbJ8zqtuKrJ3R6-dbAR/s1600/124_3711.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinZxwswFFA9XExXxi5SR_EnK2WgVwiEawV-lg3_T9DFD_2ZM7R1QWPu3irgHHtsijlw5ddIVVE9TId-yMztbhLvshQOARsSDu2MR79bcd0Acow48FalsYVbtQZJKbJ8zqtuKrJ3R6-dbAR/s320/124_3711.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Interestingly though a lot of people have requested custom versions of the teams though, following their own colour scheme's, - based mainly off references to real life NFL teams, or comic book super heroes. This is a strange throw back to the original colour concepts our graphics department came up with when we were first approached by Mantic about this project.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFUX0yIt3pMWve53XqQWjkFpxEkN02qqNH_EFPurinrLVpmSlRgRjYl8C4TQ8b4cIIg-YEGdJeLF0n_HLiXiv0X2EfU32FXT9JmKjo2Hmxb42ZNZ-cTdC-W0LUGnfLPswahGqooNblA8kJ/s1600/photo(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFUX0yIt3pMWve53XqQWjkFpxEkN02qqNH_EFPurinrLVpmSlRgRjYl8C4TQ8b4cIIg-YEGdJeLF0n_HLiXiv0X2EfU32FXT9JmKjo2Hmxb42ZNZ-cTdC-W0LUGnfLPswahGqooNblA8kJ/s320/photo(1).JPG" width="213" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And so, here's what we've come up with so far.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu7U7mtzOXpsAQpoH7HQWGXbeA3fbzSveNlsuRK77oq03XmplUw2jXzBJMRlOuGtW8Nh0dEvEZ2_1PgMLX5FRJjM5VeUDATdo8yEC5mn1c1oJwh3CAB2wEzSA2fVsSngIUNBntTk4kcPE-/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu7U7mtzOXpsAQpoH7HQWGXbeA3fbzSveNlsuRK77oq03XmplUw2jXzBJMRlOuGtW8Nh0dEvEZ2_1PgMLX5FRJjM5VeUDATdo8yEC5mn1c1oJwh3CAB2wEzSA2fVsSngIUNBntTk4kcPE-/s320/Untitled-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Adding inside geek references as the basis for paint jobs is something we really enjoy doing. Not only does it bring us a sense of amusement and self satisfaction, but its a great way to help people relate to a completely new reality! We call these original sparks of inspiration "jump off points" that help lead to final colour schemes. How many "jump off points" can you recognise across the human teams, both concepts and final?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Plus keep your eyes peeled for more as we continue to paint the expanding Dreadball realm - especially with the cool new MVP's</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">That's all for now</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPyVnZL08Ui0xlnZqw_gJ8NLv6KQJaToyP-2nZBy3XCum02EIEZ_jXvMQPi3JiFlum9MsvEe1_M4Bmb05nacOMr454r-spDP62U2uEsjWH8mjz2ufv9DCcODGNxxOu2-CPkfoJosPYKz_k/s1600/sign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="172" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPyVnZL08Ui0xlnZqw_gJ8NLv6KQJaToyP-2nZBy3XCum02EIEZ_jXvMQPi3JiFlum9MsvEe1_M4Bmb05nacOMr454r-spDP62U2uEsjWH8mjz2ufv9DCcODGNxxOu2-CPkfoJosPYKz_k/s320/sign.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>

<br />
I knew I had to start with Forge World's Infernal Guard; these guys could have been designed for Fantasy Football. A few weapon snips and the core of the team were ready for action:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHXXwZljfYEq642d4C_bBfWSq0nHlRSn2dm-KZ1UaEBzrqIrBIelir4mZakbIRWj5Nm0Le_6atcfU6sgZvqh1gRwy-fUM1zfEN7FAdtk8dmAtyh5CLRSuNrFDQTUAFh-2N1GJ5cDJTzk4/s1600/cds.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="273" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHXXwZljfYEq642d4C_bBfWSq0nHlRSn2dm-KZ1UaEBzrqIrBIelir4mZakbIRWj5Nm0Le_6atcfU6sgZvqh1gRwy-fUM1zfEN7FAdtk8dmAtyh5CLRSuNrFDQTUAFh-2N1GJ5cDJTzk4/s640/cds.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Hashut Ironfist Blockers prepare to cage up...</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
For the Hobgoblins, I opted for Greebo's lovely Volmarians, which have plenty of character. Check the Scrooge gloves!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOIvLEG59U-1ynJFXasZUCDZpDFPYtGoxd5uaq8ePuESaRnv_tfKzXjTujx3kmVtCoBKoQl7X8X6VAxm3q408zliqhqigq-dYYSgJ5Ag6X003FLLx2UbsXgZ5Sfnse2E83vGx_Dl2plZ54/s1600/hobgobs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOIvLEG59U-1ynJFXasZUCDZpDFPYtGoxd5uaq8ePuESaRnv_tfKzXjTujx3kmVtCoBKoQl7X8X6VAxm3q408zliqhqigq-dYYSgJ5Ag6X003FLLx2UbsXgZ5Sfnse2E83vGx_Dl2plZ54/s640/hobgobs.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here come the hobnobs! One of them may even manage to get the ball, eventually.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Next up were the Bull Centaurs. I knew I wanted to use the Infernal Guard for the torsos, but needed suitable bull bodies to complete them. Eventually I settled on Mantic's excellent Half Breeds, which had the advantages of being plastic, and therefore very easy to convert, and also a very good size match. A bit of greenstuffing to create belly guards and rebuild the beards, and these guys were ready to rumble. I was particularly pleased with how the chainmail on the Hthark the Unstoppable came out, as it's something I've never felt quite comfortable sculpting previously.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkyzZ2u8pvQCK61Flp9h56rP5nE5PWFRgSabn4X06Z_V1QjMo0N_WRGQSZN4n-H02K7APwUFHumwy5-fswW4OKL6uiQabE5AZXTWmSbL34t8dkGUva0XxlIl821wljpEPUE0DOTUbgQYod/s1600/bullcentaurs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkyzZ2u8pvQCK61Flp9h56rP5nE5PWFRgSabn4X06Z_V1QjMo0N_WRGQSZN4n-H02K7APwUFHumwy5-fswW4OKL6uiQabE5AZXTWmSbL34t8dkGUva0XxlIl821wljpEPUE0DOTUbgQYod/s640/bullcentaurs.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hthark the Unstoppable leads the Bull Centaur blitz.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
All that was left after that were a couple more stars. Zzharg Madeye was made from another Infernal Guard, with the additional of a Blunderbuss made from a swivel gun from a GW scenery set, modified with plasticard to look appropriately meaty:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDe0XJ6qNDsrfCGJL530JnC7HnKuLN3dL_VT_9zjr2Vmp_UVcJ6Wu-L60tu4GQ8yXP9zwBaikAO_XifutCoMQR_yW2Jxk4tx2_Q6ZsILUqp_S2mj52G6vYxRPaPW5tK0oR7rQAfmCXHHpH/s1600/blunder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDe0XJ6qNDsrfCGJL530JnC7HnKuLN3dL_VT_9zjr2Vmp_UVcJ6Wu-L60tu4GQ8yXP9zwBaikAO_XifutCoMQR_yW2Jxk4tx2_Q6ZsILUqp_S2mj52G6vYxRPaPW5tK0oR7rQAfmCXHHpH/s320/blunder.jpg" width="268" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Reloaded and ready for a drive. Just the one mind.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Last but not least, Rashnak Backstabber was created with the simple addition of a Skaven sword to represent his poisoned dagger.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIGT0g847fPFfaeIJYok1kM3DjDArSr-00szoel5dx7gfIktrmXyY3tdHPFA2QvCHtIBapO6_qLwtHR52IBJ5BGMJH7HPKm8R4mxg8qZXPHcgvecY5Obrj-nrrOZbB66E7OaqzEJuvMAjC/s1600/backstabber.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIGT0g847fPFfaeIJYok1kM3DjDArSr-00szoel5dx7gfIktrmXyY3tdHPFA2QvCHtIBapO6_qLwtHR52IBJ5BGMJH7HPKm8R4mxg8qZXPHcgvecY5Obrj-nrrOZbB66E7OaqzEJuvMAjC/s400/backstabber.jpg" width="291" /></a></div>
<br />
So that's those guys put to bed and ready for some competition! I need to make them a display plinth, so I'll pop a full team picture up once that's completed.<br />
<br />For now, keep your balls safe and mind them dirty players.<br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Chaos Dwarfs </span></h2>
<br />
<b><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">part 4 - Tournaments and Hobgoblins</span></b><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Hey guys,</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">This week I wanted to talk briefly about a couple of warhammers tournaments I've been to over the last couple of weekends.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">First up was the Bjorn Supremacy at the North West Gaming Centre in Stockport</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjfk9tw3d07ZXvx8S5Sy2FIqOGNoMK9hbHKOH8N7vxdEz9TsTq1kfeoLpAtZptryjcvI2Cq57ueTH4aCFj3cHfeX2UQ8IEGkbiQZ648BGjs6a8ak2XBciY420qdWJ7QNvC_VblS0c_rIcJ/s1600/bjorn.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjfk9tw3d07ZXvx8S5Sy2FIqOGNoMK9hbHKOH8N7vxdEz9TsTq1kfeoLpAtZptryjcvI2Cq57ueTH4aCFj3cHfeX2UQ8IEGkbiQZ648BGjs6a8ak2XBciY420qdWJ7QNvC_VblS0c_rIcJ/s320/bjorn.png" width="231" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">This was a smaller, more relaxed tournament, using the Swedish Composition Pack - a series of restrictions on building your army, which lead to a wide variety of unusual unit choices and army lists. This event marked the first time the Swedish Pack has been used in the UK for a tournament, and, while a slightly complicated system, it went down well and I fully expect to see more tournaments using it in the future.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">To view the restrictions in full go to <a class="postlink" href="https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7619038/Swedish%20Comp%20Pack.pdf">https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7619038/Swedish%20Comp%20Pack.pdf</a></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Personally I took a variation of a rush Chaos Dwarf, based around a Lord on a Lammasu, 2 Tau'ruks, some Centaurs and a K'daai Destroyer. Had a great time and was very happy to finish 6th - especially as I had to play 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 8th places - a tough schedule indeed.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And then last weekend I went to Winter Incursion at the newly re branded Maunsfeld Games</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrMx554Ucdyi2GbmHQRzwd0Zq69lZFnJ-ClXiKHT0WSeT6IJdZAHv4QI_-M8N6Iw3yqzx1LYOtw4krhA7zztc_wgIPeeGdwQGwC9IfRatWJy_BPxLkhT32Y4oJhWxb7ft9fH2pjF5GAMz6/s1600/maunsfeld_logo_2012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrMx554Ucdyi2GbmHQRzwd0Zq69lZFnJ-ClXiKHT0WSeT6IJdZAHv4QI_-M8N6Iw3yqzx1LYOtw4krhA7zztc_wgIPeeGdwQGwC9IfRatWJy_BPxLkhT32Y4oJhWxb7ft9fH2pjF5GAMz6/s1600/maunsfeld_logo_2012.jpg" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">This event was more of a standard UK tournament - and with 56 players, it made it (almost) the last maximum ranking point event of the calender year. I will talk and explain more about that next week, but it made it important, personally, that I came away with a good rest.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And thankfully, after 6 hard fought games, I managed to come away in 1st place. Which obviously I was overjoyed with.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I also managed to pick up Best Painting Nominations at both events - another achievement I was very pleased with.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Onto this weeks unit pics then - and as promised I've got some pics of the Hobgoblins. These were the very last unit I painted for the initially army list I talked about in part 2 of the Chaos Dwarf series. But one I thoroughly enjoyed.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgStTGPtv9t_PLhtbylXZjCcaLHhmd4WZ2sR2qy6AKOtlWdXSfTrxLwOdEpie3xw-c8WUKrU4sxV9BLn4s2_TGaOntwbWBLypbp0Wz8qeEkAL4s1fEYdkYiGFw72zrrKks1t6DyQ1-_WMTu/s1600/100_3337.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="209" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgStTGPtv9t_PLhtbylXZjCcaLHhmd4WZ2sR2qy6AKOtlWdXSfTrxLwOdEpie3xw-c8WUKrU4sxV9BLn4s2_TGaOntwbWBLypbp0Wz8qeEkAL4s1fEYdkYiGFw72zrrKks1t6DyQ1-_WMTu/s320/100_3337.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhqeUfNhhRXeC_SOlib0xii-25FOWZmAr5NrNZqrA9r2Bbbx_1mOd-aciZBWOlukDdOYl41UG0I41VpssDd7JN_Rhjh91i0X-n3qPY2STOYKrw_oIlbc1ZT-ONwXbORgicNEqyL_ht__Nx/s1600/100_3342.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="319" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhqeUfNhhRXeC_SOlib0xii-25FOWZmAr5NrNZqrA9r2Bbbx_1mOd-aciZBWOlukDdOYl41UG0I41VpssDd7JN_Rhjh91i0X-n3qPY2STOYKrw_oIlbc1ZT-ONwXbORgicNEqyL_ht__Nx/s320/100_3342.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I went for a dark brown shade on the cloth of the Hobgoblins, rather than using the blue/grey I'd used on the Chaos Dwarfs armour - to denote them more as slaves, an make the Blackshard armour on the Dwarfs stand out. I brought the blue/grey colour back in slightly on the armour for the command group, marking them out as separate to the rank and file. This is a good example of how small changes, while sticking within a limited palette range can really add character and emphasis to an army.</span><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="FlameBowl MMXII" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/flamebowl-04.jpg" width="650px" />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>The victorious Team Swim - Podfrey, Ambush, Sillysod and Barney.</i><br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Tournament Organiser and Blood Bowl nut Nippy Longskar creates a special pitch every year. This year he asked me to craft the fiery boards so he could get on with the important task of making cheese sandwiches.<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="FlameBowl MMXII" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/flamebowl-07.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The FlameBowl board benefits from years of Nippy's gaming insight - the scatter templates are incorporated onto the pitch design, as are Fame and Weather markings. The Weather markings are a further development of last year's design as they now incorporate numbers. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="FlameBowl MMXII" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/flamebowl-08.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Thanks to <a href="http://fit4gaming.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Sally</a> for illustrating the original FlameBowl logo. I stripped it down and incorporated it into the pitch's flamey lava centre. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="FlameBowl MMXII" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/flamebowl-09.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sally also painted the team awarded to highest-scoring individual. I always like seeing teams with rims painted to denote their position.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="FlameBowl MMXII" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/flamebowl-05.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>
</div>
Here's some people playing on boring grass pitches, but still having fun...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="FlameBowl MMXII" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/flamebowl-03.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>
And the charity raffle prize Maggiemug. You could drink tea from it. Or (if you wanted to be like Thatcher herself) lots of scotch.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="FlameBowl MMXII" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/flamebowl-06.jpg" width="650px" /> </div>
I hope I get asked to design another custom pitch for FlameBowl MMXIII. I've got a year to think of how to push the flame theme further (Or should I say "fan the flames higher").<br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Chaos Dwarfs</span></h2>
<b><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Part 3 - Lords & Heroes</span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">OK so today I said I'd talk about the infantry lords and heroes I decided to include in my first Chaos Dwarf list (for more details of which see part 2 - <a href="http://golempaintingstudio.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/mike-newman-speaks_26.html">http://golempaintingstudio.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/mike-newman-speaks_26.html</a>)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I opted for a Sorcerer-Prophet as my lord choice. For 265pts basic he brings alot to the table. Stat wise, with 3 ws5 s4 attacks, while not being overly choppy, he is pretty decent for a wizard, but the main key to the stat line is the facts he's T5 with 3wounds and a 4+ save basic - I chose to capitalise on this by also giving him a Charmed Shield - to both improve his save and provide some protection against miscasts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I also chose to make him a level 4 wizard with access to the lore of Death - with leadership 10, spirit leech poses a very good threat to most enemy characters, while Doom and Darkness coupled with the panic test from Deathshriekers is an awesome combination. Overall I think Death is a very strong lore for Chaos Dwarfs. I also equipped him with the Chalice of Darkness - to help capitalise in the magic phase.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie1LCYdIGcH1vw08zwOo7m8uCEwvZPCZ6cXTo8pue4UMjQHkCoXXuQd2W3PtYU0qUIso6OXtmLsvF2FiCIMd9iKPtmq2aHA2APCE1ZpYRziXrU9wsv9JresN8OhBr9JkjdpYfKEpWuz48G/s1600/100_3319.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie1LCYdIGcH1vw08zwOo7m8uCEwvZPCZ6cXTo8pue4UMjQHkCoXXuQd2W3PtYU0qUIso6OXtmLsvF2FiCIMd9iKPtmq2aHA2APCE1ZpYRziXrU9wsv9JresN8OhBr9JkjdpYfKEpWuz48G/s320/100_3319.JPG" width="249" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">My second choice was for a Infernal Castellan Battle Standard Bearer. Like the Prophet, he is already half decent in combat, and very tough (as you'd expect from a dwarf) - but the main thing he brings is his ability to not only let units within 12" reroll their leadership - but also make any unit he joins Stubborn! I almost always deploy him with the other characters in the Infernal Guard - making them stubborn leadership 10 with a reroll - they aren't going anywhere!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Obviously as he's the key to the anvil and all the characters standing strong its important he survives. I opted to give him an Enchanted Shield and a Luck Stone. For 10pts this give him a 2+ armour save which can be re-rolled once. I didn't want to go too over the top points wise as most of the time he sits safe in the second rank of the Infernal Guard.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_kwSQL3hhOd0WAoErWAlVGRZRCL8kmSN9UOYFy8REAlL8ww_cC2rvIZ0kJ0RXc6-jsRgQL2M4xO4za7ukgaUfg4wWDUsmi4h2FDgWyDXpNi89hTBDs-uwEGMgu7gwuSXVCIqfsKnr1Xv5/s1600/100_3321.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_kwSQL3hhOd0WAoErWAlVGRZRCL8kmSN9UOYFy8REAlL8ww_cC2rvIZ0kJ0RXc6-jsRgQL2M4xO4za7ukgaUfg4wWDUsmi4h2FDgWyDXpNi89hTBDs-uwEGMgu7gwuSXVCIqfsKnr1Xv5/s320/100_3321.JPG" width="261" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And finally I chose a Daemonsmith. For only 95pts I think they are a fantastic choice. The bring a magic weapon, some spells, and are an engineer to boot, plus he carries the Dispel Scroll. They really are the jack of all trades. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I also chose to make this a Death wizard, this time a level 1 - this helps me guarantee getting Doom and Darkness to make the most of my rockets (especially as I now have two engineers in the army!) but also means I have access to two leadership 10 Spirit Leeches. Devastating against some armies.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEY4Wod1an27qv3gv_bDwWbr20v4EB7DDs_AhIvtgLE4c9zjSfBh3juvT0pUhoJ76uXhy8Wl0IDvhN7SRRIcZOgNGRTIY0AYmHs5QV8pEZIh1OU4T6Gl0yk6iDLNUOlWE40kkm8ZMF09sY/s1600/100_3320.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEY4Wod1an27qv3gv_bDwWbr20v4EB7DDs_AhIvtgLE4c9zjSfBh3juvT0pUhoJ76uXhy8Wl0IDvhN7SRRIcZOgNGRTIY0AYmHs5QV8pEZIh1OU4T6Gl0yk6iDLNUOlWE40kkm8ZMF09sY/s320/100_3320.JPG" width="204" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">That's it for this week, next week I plan to talk about two tournaments I've been to recently - as well as show off my Hobgoblin Sneaky Git unit. Tactically situated on a table neighbouring the FlameBowl lunch buffet, Blood Bowlers had a chance to compare and contrast this new kid on the block with their 26 year-old classic.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="DreadBall at FlameBowl" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/dreadball-flamebowl-demo.jpg" width="525px" /> </div>
<br />
The grizzled 'Bowl veterans grasped some of the tactical subtleties straightaway - starting their rush with Slams and manoeuvrings and only getting to the important scoring business at the end. There were a couple of observations that kept cropping up...
<b> </b><br />
<br />
<b>Passing the Ball</b> - Passing in Blood Bowl is a rare sight. The chances of losing the ball and suffering a turnover are high, even with skills such as<i> Pass</i> and <i>Accurate</i>. Blood Bowl teams tend to cage and advance down the pitch in tired, predictable fashion. In contrast, there's a lot of passing in DreadBall and more of a feel it's a sports game.
<b> </b><br />
<br />
<b>Pitch Size</b> - DreadBall's pitch is much smaller than Blood Bowl's. This is in partly cos there're a lot less models on the field (six a side rather than eleven). However, the models control much less of the board in DreadBall - rather than exerting eight squares of tackle zone in the all the adjacent squares DreadBall models only project their influence forwards into the three front hexes. This is refreshingly different.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="DreadBall at FlameBowl" class="aligncenter" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/golem/dreadball-pitch-comparison.jpg" width="525px" />
<b> </b></div>
<br />
<b>Game Speed</b> - Khemri were 0-4 down against Elves, still with turns on the counter. Would no-one put Schmee's Tomb Kings out of their misery while the game dragged on to its inevitable conclusion? In DreadBall, if a team are running away with the scoring then the game ends - keeping it fast and fun.
<b> </b><br />
<br />
<b>Nice Smells</b> - The alternative MDF pitch smells of lasers. This is a nasal treat - much like the smell of printing in a new book, or the air inside a boxed game. If the DreadBall boxes came with MDF pitches inside it would be an olfactory joy explosion.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

So far I've shown off the Orc Boyz and Goblins from my recent army commission. To round out this series of Blog Posts, I'll take you through the tough stuff! Black Orcs, Characters, and the Boar Chariot were the elements that filled out this force.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These black orcs were great fun to paint! I was happy with the result of the beaten/ battle damaged look of the armour, which makes them look like grizzled veterans, without being too messy.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
Next up we have Udglud 'Eadcrusha astride his fearsome, armour-clad warboar, and Mazdag Ardnut, the Army Standard Bearer. You'll notice that the blending of colours is a little smoother on the Character standard minis - these little touches help the models stand out from the rank and file.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">

The limited edition Orc Shaman has a lot more skin on display than the rest of the orcs in this army. I didn't want him to look <i>too </i>bright overall, so I picked muted tones for the cloth and wrist straps. Balancing colours like this is an important part of making an army look coherant on the tabletop.</div>

Like Space Wolves and their Wolfguard, these heavily-armoured characters can be sprinkled around the army to bolster the ranks, or formed up into squads for real hitting power.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Squat Exo-Armour versus Storm Giants" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/squats/squat-exo-armour-versus-storm-giants-2.jpg" width="650" /></div>
<br />
This model may've been influenced by the famous Sutton Hoo helmet. It's as though the Perry that sculpted these models saw it and thought "Hey! That would look great as a robot - all it needs are hands and feet."
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Sutton Hoo helmet" src="http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/squats/sutton-hoo-helmet.jpg" width="400" /> </div>
<br />
Eagle-eyed amongst you would've noticed that there's a discarded RTB01 helmet on the base. This is to commemorate the Squats' victory against Mark's Storm Giants in our ongoing <a href="http://golempaintingstudio.co.uk/" target="_blank">Golem</a> army challenge. So great was the massacre of these green Marines that Mark has switched to collecting Ultramarines.

<br />
Next off, let's round these chaps out to a squad with all the variants.<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Chaos Dwarfs</span></h2>
<b><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Part 2 - First Army List and Infernal Guard</span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Afternoon guys,</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">So I thought for the next part of the Chaos Dwarf series we'd have a look at the first army list I wrote. (you can catch part 1 here - <a href="http://golempaintingstudio.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/mike-newman-speaks.html">http://golempaintingstudio.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/mike-newman-speaks.htm</a><a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=2564161084548307305">l</a>)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Generally speaking, after the <b>initial</b> inspiration which sparks an army, which I talked about last time, the army list is the next step for me. Being an avid tournament player, and someone who plays a lot of games, I want to make sure I can create a list which is both;</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> a) competitive - I want to win games</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">and b) fun to play - cause I need to enjoy playing the army across a lot of games without getting bored - just like those chaps you see enjoying their games in the shiny pages of White Dwarf</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTuKeQ3gXZL-zZfSFnTuzCB-w7gjJeE3Ha9nQjojolkZBYpjw3vkgvExD2MAgnzg6_ixEvkJSq5E5cHLQcsawG_mWu7uU7LAVagr7xDe1G93LR1LdnkvR0686u9COSlyA_etvPP-Rcu17N/s1600/nick.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTuKeQ3gXZL-zZfSFnTuzCB-w7gjJeE3Ha9nQjojolkZBYpjw3vkgvExD2MAgnzg6_ixEvkJSq5E5cHLQcsawG_mWu7uU7LAVagr7xDe1G93LR1LdnkvR0686u9COSlyA_etvPP-Rcu17N/s320/nick.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I wanted to create the army in two parts, a typical hammer and anvil style list. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The hammers are fast moving hard hitting elements designed to take the fight to the enemy and do the majority of the damage. For this I chose; a unit of 4 Bullcentaurs with great weapons, a Tau'ruk, and a mighty Kdaai Destroyer. These are all capable of posing a number of problems for the enemy.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The anvil is designed to sit back, destroy stuff at range, and then be resolute enough to survive when the enemy hits home. For this task I chose; a Sorcerer-Prophet, a BSB, a Deamonsmith, 27 Infernal Guard with great weapons, 32 Hobgoblin Sneaky Gits, 2 Death Shriekers, a Magma Cannon and 5 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And so onto the Infernal Guard, with test model already done it was a fairly simple task to replicate the colour scheme across the whole unit.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEh9bxAcyOufZ3ZhUFG2gLlbbN1PobuzvUhJGXx1wsiRWbauwOoz_haJY0EFkvYPt9aW_AKqjyF-OE9Qz4HyCs5t3Nz24DnOPQN8XJcKgRVjBf5YSifej1TCn9ID_jl1R2JvIltQhH5cFw/s1600/100_3310.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEh9bxAcyOufZ3ZhUFG2gLlbbN1PobuzvUhJGXx1wsiRWbauwOoz_haJY0EFkvYPt9aW_AKqjyF-OE9Qz4HyCs5t3Nz24DnOPQN8XJcKgRVjBf5YSifej1TCn9ID_jl1R2JvIltQhH5cFw/s320/100_3310.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I particularly like the different styles you get across the dwarfs themselves, with the fatter plastic ones, and the skinny evil thinner metal ones. A few of the different metal styles are pictured below.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqPZkLwKQuO85aj9EWk6OnRyt0GRuFXa__37EMXnUHI79v-eZ68PKd5TbaLmZ_OGDLk8Kt9vuTXccLKzkEqSIwzz2TQRMjbuQQFnTLhtDs3WODfnGHSgaycTGyyrngGKmuFKw3VMJcWv9b/s1600/100_3316.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="196" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqPZkLwKQuO85aj9EWk6OnRyt0GRuFXa__37EMXnUHI79v-eZ68PKd5TbaLmZ_OGDLk8Kt9vuTXccLKzkEqSIwzz2TQRMjbuQQFnTLhtDs3WODfnGHSgaycTGyyrngGKmuFKw3VMJcWv9b/s320/100_3316.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The command groups features the 'pirate' Chaos Dwarf as champion - one of my favourite models. I also made the decision to use the vintage printed paper banners from the old Chaos Dwarf Army book too, as fitted on the old models.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS44VF9DqXaJ8UCmsSsW8A4Ws_u9fk1jdvrBNw0_OXArT1MkJASvJ4jS0q1UOzthwq0bBBJuPZ2jT0pquNkm4BlvukaJokqy_HHjb6iJPrLmhuj43ih42JzHKBPMWYb5fd01oTi0kDdHQW/s1600/100_3309.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="249" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS44VF9DqXaJ8UCmsSsW8A4Ws_u9fk1jdvrBNw0_OXArT1MkJASvJ4jS0q1UOzthwq0bBBJuPZ2jT0pquNkm4BlvukaJokqy_HHjb6iJPrLmhuj43ih42JzHKBPMWYb5fd01oTi0kDdHQW/s320/100_3309.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And that's it until next time, when I plan to talk about the infantry characters, their equipment, and the role they take within the anvil. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">See you then</span><br />

<br />
I found that after painting the banner the central design needed bringing out a little more, so I added some dagz to the edges to make it a little more striking.<br />

This is the second part in my series on an Orc army that I recently painted. Last time I focused on the centre point regiment in the army, the Orc Boyz. This time around we'll take a look at everyone's favourite sneaky little fellows, the Goblins!<br />

These guys were great fun to paint! There's something about greenskins which sparks my imagination. I find myself creating little narratives for them, in my head, whilst painting them. I find that when painting armies, keeping that flame of inspiration alight is key. Being faced with a massive load of models can be quite daunting, so I think it's important to find ways of getting through them and enjoying doing it (it is our hobby (for me it's more a jobby) after all).</div>

Thanks for looking guys,</div>
